.......Die meisten HDTV-Sender in Europa senden mit einer Bildauflösung von 1920 x 1080i (interlaced) mit Halbbildern, da im Interlaced-Verfahren die Übertragungsrate nicht so hoch ist, anstatt mit 1080p (progressive) in Vollbildern zu übertragen. Die Übertragungsrate (Bitrate) ist mit von Entscheidung, wie die Bildqualität zu Hause ankommt. Mittlerweile sendet aber HD Suisse mit 1280 x 720p, ebenso wie der ORF HD auch mit 720p. ARD und ZDF planen mit 720p ab 2010 im Vollbetrieb zu senden. Der HD-Showcase von EinsFestival wird ebenfalls mit 720p ausgestrahlt.
